Hey everyone, sorry for the delay in updating; these kids are taking all of our time :-) We did go to the doctor yesterday for our 9-month checkup and things were good. Ian woke up with a crusty eye so they diagnosed him with pink eye and Bonner continues to struggle with the teeth or something else! Bonner weighed 17 lbs 3 oz. and Ian was back up to 18 lbs 13 oz (he had dropped some last week while he was sick)...so he remains about a pound and a half bigger than her! They both got 2 shots and handled them well.
Bonner is just not herself these days -- no fever or anything overtly wrong -- but she is really whiney and refuses to drink a bottle! It's quite strange and I have a feeling that it will result in us going back to the doctor on Friday. They checked her ears real good and they were clear so that was good news! The doctor thinks it's just residual from her spiking that high fever on Saturday but I still think it's her teeth ... those top two teeth will not come through! Anyway, say a quick prayer that she will start to feel better very soon.
We will spend this weekend packing for Boston. We leave on Monday; of course, the swine flu has us a little concerned so I am hoping that all 4 of us will still be able to make the trip! We will definitely keep you posted on Bonner's progress and our travel plans!
I hope the weather where you are is as beautiful as it is here in Greenville -- man, I love spring! I just hate the sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, and achiness that comes with it!

April 26, 2009 - from CaringBridge
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, it has been a whirwind of a weekend! Bonner left with my parents about 11 a.m. on Thursday to head to Alabama and we took Ian back to the doctor. He was doing better but not "significantly better" so I just wanted to double-check before we headed south with him.
We were excited, though, that he was able to join us Thursday night as we went to a UGA event with Mark Richt, the Bulldogs' Head Football Coach! The coach signed a football for Ian and a stuffed bulldog for Bonner so that was neat! And he gave us an insight to this upcoming football year -- you know that we are getting excited around the Bloodworth household for football! As you can see in this picture, Ian was more interested in those sitting on the front row than the Coach or the camera :-)
Stewart, Ian, and I ended up leaving for Alabama about 8:30 p.m. and arrived in Sylacauga, AL, about 2 a.m. It was an easy trip and both "boys" slept pretty much the whole way so I had plenty of peace of quiet which was nice.
We enjoyed spending Friday with the family and meeting several cousins Friday night at a barbecue! We ate lunch with everyone Saturday afternoon and headed home. Unfortunately, Bonner started running a fever on Saturday so it was a long trip back with her feeling pretty puny!
She's had a temperature up and down today; I really think it's her top teeth coming in because she is constantly "chomping" her jaws together! Hopefully, she'll be feeling better by the time most of you are reading this on Monday :-)
We head to the doctor this Wednesday for their 9-month checkup so we'll keep you posted on those results! Other than that, it'll be a week spent getting everyone ready for the first big plane trip - we leave for Boston next Monday, May 4. Be in prayer for those sitting next to and around us on the flight :-)

Well, he still sounds rattley but he's doing much better. We did the 2 breathing treatments last night and he slept "like a baby" - how I guess a real good baby sleeps ... all night long without a peep! His breathing was quiet as a church mouse (man, I am just full of analogies this morning) so that was good. We have just gotten back from the doctor and we are simply "to stay the course". We will give the breathing treatments every 4 hours today, every 4-6 tomorrow, every 6 the next day, etc. The medicine in the breathing treatment, in addition to the steroid we are taking, should continue to open up his airways over the coming days.
I asked about our trip and she said that it would be okay; just to watch him with others as he can give the croop to someone else. So, we'll all just mask up :-) Just kidding! We are excited to still be able to go and I know it will mean alot to their great-grandmother -- Happy Birthday, Nanny! It will mean alot to us, too!
I did cancel their 9-month pictures that were scheduled for today...wasn't sure that he would be real pleasant during a photo shoot so we'll postpone that until next week.

Hey everyone,
I hope that this update finds everyone doing well! We are enjoying the beautiful spring -- maybe a little too much as the pollen seems to have hit Ian pretty hard. Ian started coughing this past weekend and ran a fever for a little while ... we didn't think much of it because he was happy and playing. However, yesterday, he started back with that rattling noise in his nose and throat so we went to the pediatrician. The doctor listened to him for a quite a while and confirmed that it was just in his nose and throat and not in his lungs.
Well, that type of thing, I guess, can change pretty quickly, because today, he started struggling to catch his breath. Unfortunately, he was still happy and playing so I didn't think too much of it and just thought we would give it another day before I went back to the doctor. Well, when he woke up from his nap at 4:30 p.m., he was really struggling and you could just tell that he didn't feel good at all. So, I quickly slung he and his sister into the car and rushed to the pediatrician's office (since they close at 5 p.m.) Fortunately, they were still there and they immediately administered a breathing treatment which seemed to help some.
They prescribed him a steroid -- which is perfect since we are in the drug business and we have a steroid -- and sent us home with a nebulizer. It's definitely a 2-man task as we gave him one around 8 p.m. It required me holding his arms down and Stewart holding the mask to his nose! We will do another one in just a little while and then again in the morning.
We go back to the doctor in the morning at 10 so I will update after that. Please just pray that he will respond quickly to the treatments; we are supposed to go to Alabama this weekend to see our grandmother and other family and I really want to make that happen! We, of course, won't take a chance, but we have our fingers crossed that God will heal Ian pretty quickly.
As the doctor today said, "This has nothing to do with his heart!" And we were never worried about that ... as we told her, "We know NOT breathing and we were never worried about that either!" It's amazing how this parenting thing all comes into perspective :-)

We know it's late and we finally got mommy and daddy to bed -- man, sometimes, they can really fight it! Anyway, just a quick update to tell you a few things ... first of all, we are absolutely loving the sunshine. It seems that some days are pretty cloudy but when it's sunshiney outside, we are just so excited! It usually means that we get to take a walk and listen to mommy sneeze :-)
Mommy told us some big news today -- we are going on one of those big things called an airplane and enter into the sky. We aren't exactly sure what that means but she told us that we are going to Boston the first week in May. Ian's doctor said it was fine for him to go ... as long as we take pictures of us at Fenway Park :-) Not sure what that is but it sounds fun! We love parks!
We are also excited because we are going to our 2nd birthday party this weekend ... and guess who it's for? RJ Stokes -- do you remember him? We met him when we were at MUSC the first time around. His parents were real nice to mommy and daddy and Ian and RJ enjoyed being "bed-mates" for a little while in PCICU. We can't wait to see him and celebrate his first year of life! It'll be so much fun!
Also, mommy told us that OUR first birthday party will be on Saturday, July 25th, at the neighborhood pool. We want to meet EVERYONE that reads our updates and has prayed for us and loved us since the beginning of this journey so please plan to be there. We really want to see everyone!
Please remember Hudson's mommy, daddy, brother, and all their family and friends; we say a prayer for them each night. Mommy says that they will have a tough time this weekend as they say good-bye to their Warrior, but that they know God loves them very much!

Well, we trust that you have all had a wonderful Easter weekend. We had a great first Easter with the children -- although I am not sure they quite understand it just yet :-)
However, I come with sadness tonight as I tell you of a family that lost their Warrior over the weekend. We met the Skiff family while we were at MUSC in February as their son, Hudson, was born there December 22, 2008. We have kept up with the family throughout the days since our departure through their Caring Bridge site and had really come to love them, their updates, and all their inspiration. Some of you might have enjoyed reading as well as I posted their CB site a couple of times here. However, we were truly devastated as Hudson lost his battle this past Saturday and went home to be with Jesus. Please remember this family through the coming days as they continue to grieve the loss of their little boy. He was such a strong little booger and was a real inspiration to so many! We pray that the family feels God's closeness now more than ever!

All kidding aside, we are so blessed this Easter to be celebrating and rejoicing in our Risen King with 2 healthy children! We are so blessed to know Jesus Christ in our hearts and to have walked alongside him through our most recent journeys! We are so blessed to live in a country that I can freely type this and scream this from the street corner without any recourse! We are just so blessed!
And we pray that you are blessed, too, in that you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you have followed our story and wondered "Where does their faith come from?"; I can quickly answer that with "The birth and death of our Savior!" If you aren't saved yet, we would pray that as you read this you would say, "I hope that I can have that kind of faith one day!" and then ask us how we can help get you started on a path to everlasting life!
We love each of you and rejoice loudly during this very special Easter season!
